Ring Family
Our client brought in a series of beautiful loose gems from South America looking to create the classic mother’s ring. Together we came up with the idea of creating a set of custom rings that could work individually or in combination with one another to form a “ring family.”
With so many stones, to ensure everything would fit together seamlessly, we needed to first establish how the stones would all be placed when the rings were worn together in a set. For this, we created several prototypes that we painted silver to mimic white gold. In the end, we created three separate and unique rings that look beautiful by themselves or together as one “Happy Family.”
Tanzanite Bracelet
A client came to us with a beautiful collection of tanzanite gems and asked us what the best use for them would be. We immediately thought a bracelet would be the perfect use for the stones—the client agreed.
With that, we began creating sketches of how the bracelet would look.
With a design in mind, we built a crude prototype to get a better 3 D visual for how the piece would look, as well as lay on a wrist.
From there, we used a wax carving process to hone the design. We started with the underlying structure and then the settings were later added to hold each stone.
Once the design was developed, we then encased the model in plaster to convert the design to gold using the lost wax technique.
With the main structure now in gold, as well as one of the identical side links, a rubber mold is created ensuring each was identical.
Once all of the settings are cast and placed, many hours are spent hand sanding and polishing the pieces to reveal a spectacular result.
